Our Expertise

Flood Risk Management

We provide tailored flood risk management services to support development and environmental projects of all scales. Our team undertakes flood risk feasibility studies, detailed assessments and advanced flood modelling (1D/2D hydraulic and rainfall-runoff) to inform planning and design. We also develop mitigation strategies, including natural flood management measures, and guide clients through regulatory processes such as Flood Risk Activity Permits and Internal Drainage Board consents, ensuring compliance and reducing project risk.

Sustainable Drainage Systems

Raincloud provides specialist support in sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) to help clients meet planning and regulatory requirements. Our services include preparing SuDS strategies for both outline and full planning applications, addressing the discharge of drainage planning conditions, and delivering independent check certificates or third-party reviews in Scotland, carried out by a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager (MCIWEM, C.WEM). We ensure designs are practical, compliant and sustainable, reducing flood risk while supporting water quality and biodiversity.

Environmental Impact Assessment

Our team provides expert hydrological input to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), from early feasibility studies and site walkovers through to detailed technical reporting. We deliver scoping advice, constraints mapping and specialist EIA chapters, alongside assessments such as private water supply risk assessment and Water Framework Directive compliance. We also prepare Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP) and provide ongoing support during delivery, ensuring projects meet regulatory requirements while effectively managing environmental and water-related risks.

Water Quality Monitoring

We provide comprehensive water quality monitoring services to support planning, construction and operational phases of projects. Our work includes preparing water quality monitoring plans, undertaking baseline surveys, and delivering ongoing and continuous monitoring programmes tailored to site conditions. We also carry out groundwater monitoring to assess potential impacts on sensitive receptors. Our approach ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, provides robust data for decision-making, and helps manage environmental risks throughout the project lifecycle.
