Supporting Scottish Onshore Wind
Raincloud was appointed to provide the hydrological services for the Beinneun II Wind Farm Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to submit an application for consent under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989.
Beinneun II Wind Farm comprises 18 wind turbines, laydown areas, substation, battery energy storage, meteorological mast and new access tracks. The proposed development is located adjacent to the operational Beinneun and Millennium wind farms.
Watercourses and the River Moriston Special Area of Conservation were identified as the key hydrological considerations and Raincloud undertook the shadow Habitats Regulation Assessment, which concluded no significant impact to the qualifying interest of the designation.
Our team worked with the EIA coordination team, Envams, to produce a holistic hydrology chapter and supporting appendices including watercourse inventory.
Raincloud played a key role in producing the outline Construction Environmental Management Plan (oCEMP) for the application. The oCEMP included best practice for the project and mitigation measures sediment pollution prevention, chemical pollution prevention and construction activities in the water environment.
The Section 36 application was submitted in July 2025 and the project is currently awaiting a decision from the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit.
